Cindy Gray is a Christian artist who specializes in portrait painting. She studied art and design at Middle Tennessee State University. After University, she accepted a position at Animax, in Nashville, Tennessee, where she worked with a team of artists to design and create characters for TV, Theme Parks, and the Theater. She began to paint full time after moving to a quiet little community which sits in the shadows of the Cumberland Plateau in South Central Tennessee. With her children now grown, she still happily resides there with her supportive husband, Rick, who partners with her to create works of art.
Though inspired by the beauty of her surrounding, Cindy is drawn to the “human” landscape. The mystery, overwhelming joy, innocence, or aged wisdom expressed by the subtle lines and forms of one’s face is the inspiration for her art. She hopes that her portraitures will be enjoyed, not just by this generation, but by generations to come.
This is her Personal Statement:
“I am not my own. I have been erased like a canvas washed by the strokes; the strokes of grace.” by Starfield ----Check out her website at outofthegrayportraits.com
These most recent works are currently on the "easel" in my studio. I would welcome any critique you may have regarding these pieces before I put my final signature to them. Email me at Cindy@outofthegrayportraits.com

Quotes to Ponder
"My faith is not what I write about or what I paint about, but it is the light by which I see." -Flannery O'Conner
"Art needs to be an expression of how God defines us." -Makoto Fajimura
"If we are to even attempt to communicate good in our art, we must push out beyond our bent understanding of it and draw from the depths of God's character." -Ned Bustard
"Art, like prayer, is really more about our giving to God than our performing for God. To delight in God - to focus solely on his pleasure - is to worship Him. And to worship is the true vocation of the artist's soul." -J. Sawyer
